You gotta be "kidney" me!
Story
I'm taking part in this year's Big Red Kidney Walk in support of Australians affected by kidney disease.
It’s a cause close to my heart after my brother Luke was recently unexpectedly diagnosed with end stage chronic kidney disease. Luke is now on peritoneal dialysis and waiting to find a suitable kidney donor.
Sadly, around 60 Australians die every day with kidney related disease. One in three Australians is at increased risk of kidney disease and an estimated 1.7 million Australians over the age of 25 already have at least one clinical sign of existing kidney disease. It's a very important health issue that urgently needs more awareness and support.
As I start to count down to my Big Red Kidney Walk, I invite you to cheer me on and to dig deep to help me reach my personal fundraising goal to support the work of Kidney Health Australia.
Every dollar counts so please help me make a difference with a secure online donation, big or small – just click on the ‘Donate’ button and you will automatically receive a tax-deductible receipt via email.
Not only does our team want to raise funds to support Kidney Health Australia, but we want to raise as much awareness among our friends and family as possible - because if our family had been more aware perhaps we would have been able to help Luke long before it reached this point!
Thank you for supporting my efforts in the 2017 Big Red Kidney Walk!
Activity
Kidney Health Australia
Kidney Health Australia was established in 1968 as the Australian Kidney Foundation. It is now a cohesive national body—a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people living with kidney disease and their carers. It operates primarily due to the generosity of the public, largely in the form of donations, bequests and community fundraising.
